Creating a Routine You Can Maintain

A routine is only useful if it survives a tired, interrupted Wednesday. Start smaller than you think.

Begin with one small anchor

Choose a single existing habit, such as making coffee, and attach one tiny action to it, like writing your top three tasks. Small anchors are easy to repeat and grow naturally.

Size it for your worst day

Design the routine so you could still do a short version when you are tired or rushed. Five minutes done daily beats an hour done twice before stopping.

Make it visible

Put the cue where you will see it: a notebook on the desk, a note on the monitor. Reminders in plain sight reduce how much you need to remember.

Plan for missed days

Missing a day is normal. Decide ahead of time that you simply restart the next day, with no catching up and no guilt. Consistency is built by returning, not by being perfect.
